SILVER LAKE – Of a little over 3,000 Ford Motor Co. franchise dealers in the U.S., only 300 received the President’s Award this year for 2023.
For the fourth consecutive year, and seventh overall, Kerlin Motor Company in Silver Lake was one of them.
The President’s Award is presented to those top-performing Ford dealerships that exhibit quality business practices and Ford’s core principles, according to a letter from Ford Motor Co. sent to Kerlin March 11.
Amanda Agnello, CX manager in the Detroit region for Ford Motor Company, said she was excited to be in a community where a Ford dealership had such a substantial history of 97 years and counting.
Agnello said she did a little bit of research of what a Ford vehicle looked like 97 years ago when Kerlin got started. She said the cars have gotten stronger than what they were then.
“But what hasn’t changed is Kerlin Motors’ commitment to their customers and customer satisfaction, their commitment to their community. And that’s what we’re here to celebrate today,” she said. The award was a testament to all the hard work Kerlin staff does day in and day out.

“Working in a dealership is not a 9-to-5 job. This is something you take home with you, that follows you. It is a passion point and you’re a family business here at Kerlin Motors,” she said.
In 2023, Kerlin Motors sold 277 new Ford vehicles and completed over 2,100 repair orders.
“Now when you think about those numbers, that’s a lot of opportunities to go wrong,” but, fortunately, for Kerlin’s case, it was a lot of opportunities to go right. Agnello read off some reviews calling Kerlin’s service phenomenal and the staff knowledgeable, personable and honest.
“These are just a small sampling of what your customers have said about you as a testament to what makes this team so strong. You’ve earned your customer loyalty by going above and beyond and really making above and beyond the standard of this dealership. So I know that you guys are going to have success in years to come. We’re so proud to have you represent Ford Motor Company and for all of you in the dealership for the work you do because we know it’s not a single-person effort. It takes the entire team,” she said.
Co-owner Rick Kerlin said it takes everyone at the dealership to make this happen and the one thing he’s most thankful for is the staff taking care of Kerlin’s customers.
“That’s what matters first. (The award) doesn’t matter as much as taking care of our customers. When we take care of our customers, this is what happens. I just want to thank everybody. I really appreciate it,” he said.
Co-owner Valerie Warner said they know it takes everyone to do their piece to make the whole wheel turn.
