Eleven-year-old Norah Kuhn is using her musical talents to help raise money for local families trying to adopt.
Norah’s parents, Phil and Melissa Kuhn, are the founders of Legacy Of Blessings Adoption Foundation. The foundation received its 503(c) status in September and was created to help educate people on the adoption process and provide families with resources and encouragement through the adoption process, while also helping with the financial side of adoptions.
Phil said Norah started playing guitar in January or February and wanted to use her musical passions to raise money for Legacy Of Blessings. Norah is self-taught and has not taken any classes thus far, but Phil said classes may be an option at some point if Norah is interested. Phil said Norah is passionate about her music and guitar.
Norah had CDs made of her music and all money raised from these CDs will go toward helping local families adopt. Phil said Legacy Of Blessings has two funds, one for overhead costs and one through Life Song For Orphans, which helps raise money for adoptions. The money Norah raise will go into the fund to help with adoptions and all money raised will help people in Kosciusko County looking to adopt.
Phil said there are seven songs on the CD of Norah playing her guitar. All the songs are acoustic guitar and almost all of the songs are faith-based songs, though not necessarily worship songs. She did write one song specifically about adoption. There is no set price for the CDs, but free-will donations are accepted.
Norah will sing live Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Culver’s, 2455 Jalynn St., Warsaw.
Phil said Legacy Of Blessings Board member Deb Burson reached out to Culver’s to see if the company would be interested in partnering with the event. During the adoption fundraising event, a portion of Culver’s proceeds from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday will go to the Legacy Of Blessings Adoption Foundation.
For more information about Legacy Of Blessings Adoption Foundation or to donate, visit legacyofblessings.org or visit their Facebook page.
Phil also said if anyone who wants to purchase Norah’s CD but can’t attend the Culver event, his phone number and email are on the Legacy Of Blessings website and he can be contacted that way.
