Warsaw Man Arrested On Weapon Charges

A Warsaw man was arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at work crew members on Packerton Road.
Michael Curtis Hayden Miller, 47, of 2078 S. Packerton Road, Warsaw, is charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; pointing a firearm, a level 6 felony; and criminal recklessness, a level 6 felony.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:28 a.m. July 16 on a $5,250 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on July 16 dispatched advised a man, later identified as Miller, pulled a gun on a work crew outside a residence on Packerton Road, Warsaw. After that, Miller retreated back inside the residence.
A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy and Winona Lake Police Department officer responded to the incident.
The Winona Lake officer spoke to the victim, who said he looked to his right and there was a long rifle pointed right at him.
The deputy secured the weapon and the officers spoke with Miller who said he was done with the work crew. Miller tested at a .30% BrAC on a portable breath test and Miller admitted the .22 caliber firearm was loaded during the incident. Officers checked the firearm, saw the hammer was back and there was a round in the chamber.
The victim also said Miller cussed at the work crew all morning. Miller also did burn outs in his vehicle on the driveway and accused the work crew of knocking over a pole on a wrecked vehicle. The victim walked around the passenger side of the work crew’s vehicle, glanced at Miller and saw Miller point a firearm at him. The victim said he ran to safety and yelled at the work crew members to move.
