Saturday proved to be perfect weather to get club members of the Echoes of the Past together to harvest approximately one-fourth acre of wheat to be used in the threshing demonstration at the SummerFest Tractor Show & Pull Aug. 2-3 in Claypool, according to a news release from Echoes of the Past. Club members gathered at a field owned by Craig Ganshorn, 4598 W. CR 700N, Leesburg, to begin binding wheat. Using an antique wheat binder, piloted by Delbert Slaybaugh, to harvest and bind the one-fourth of an acre of wheat, 14 club members, using pitch forks, loaded two wagons to be threshed. A vintage 1950 Farmall H, owned and operated by Duane Harman, was used to pull the binder and a 1947 John Deere B, owned and operated by Dave Huffman, pulled one wagon to load the bound wheat while Roger Taylor drove a 1977 International 686 to pull the second wagon.
