Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District tabled a request from the county auditor's office for a fee increase during a meeting Tuesday.
The auditor's office attends the district's monthly board meetings and handles bookkeeping, payroll and verification for budgets, among other tasks.
Currently, the district pays the office $6,000 a year, and the auditor's office requested an increase to $10,000 a year for their services. KCSWMD Executive Director Tom Ganser recommended the district's board approve the increase.
Board member and County Councilman Dave Wolkins questioned why an increase was necessary.
Board President Brad Jackson said it was a big increase, but that the office wasn't being paid much by the district to start with.
The board initially discussed approving a fee increase for $8,000, but ultimately decided to table a decision until more information is presented.
In other business, the board approved moving $3,000 to a part-time education outreach and marketing coordinator position. Leslie Williams, the district's former coordinator, resigned to become a stay-at-home parent. However, the district previously approved Williams working remotely for about eight to 10 hours a week.
The board's next meeting is at 11 a.m. Aug. 13.
