NORTH MANCHESTER – Celebrating the remarkable life of Jessica Elizabeth Bruce, 49, a resilient and loving woman who left a loving impression on all who knew her.
Born in Merrillville on May 29, 1975, Jessica was the daughter of William Craig Bruce and Mindy Gearhart Miller. Jessica's journey on this earth concluded on July 12, 2024, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw, leaving behind a legacy of strength, selflessness and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Jessica navigated through life with determination and grace, attending Manchester High School before pursuing further education at Ivy Tech. Despite facing health challenges, she persevered, always putting the needs of others before her own. Known for her kindness and warm spirit, Jessica touched the hearts of many and brightened the lives of all those she encountered. She carried these characteristics over to her job at Cardinal Services, where she began as a direct support professional, eventually working her way up to shift manager.
A dedicated big sister, Jessica cherished her role as a supportive and loving sibling, offering unwavering care and compassion to each member of her large family, including her dog, Ralph. Jessica's joy knew no bounds when she became a mother, treasuring every moment shared with her daughter Sophia. Her passion for documenting life's precious moments through photography, her talent in the kitchen, her love for collecting cookbooks and Coca-Cola memorabilia, and her affinity for hard rock music and soap operas were all cherished aspects of her vibrant personality. Jessica relished her time attending Warsaw Community Church.
The loving memory of Jessica Bruce will be forever cherished by her mother, Mindy Miller, Warsaw; daughter, Sophia (Tyler Fisher) Bruce, Bourbon; brothers: Bryan (Seph) Bruce, Greenwood; Ben (Jenn) Bruce, Larwill; Joel (Stella) Bruce, Lakeville, Grey “John” Bruce, Denver, Colo.; and Jed Bruce, Silver Lake; sisters: Abby Bruce, Etna Green; Havilah Skeans, Warsaw; Lynisa (Gary) Rodgers, Warsaw; Cecilee (Matthew) Bruce, Barre, Vt.; and Nyla (Trevor Jacobs) Ray, Fort Wayne; stepmother, Elizabeth Bruce, Peru; and stepsister, Lori (Chad) Grigsby, Bunker Hill. Jessica was preceded in death by her father, William Craig Bruce; daughter, Shyanne Marie Garcia; stepbrother, Eric Trexler; and her dog, Ralph.
Family and friends may call Friday, July 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling. Burial will be held at Akron IOOF Cemetery in Akron at a later date.
