Man Facing Charges In Crash That Killed Milford Man, Injured Others On June 29

A driver in the two-vehicle crash on June 29 that claimed the life of a Milford man and injured multiple others, including children, was arrested Monday night on several charges.
Anish Daita, 31, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at approximately 9 p.m. Monday by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office with the help of the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, according to a news release from the KCSO. Daita is facing preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death, a level 4 felony; and two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, level 5 felonies.
Kosciusko County officials are continuing to investigate the motor vehicle traffic crash on CR 150W, south of CR 400N in Kosciusko County. The crash involved a northbound 2024 black Tesla and a southbound 2007 black Chevy Tahoe.
KCSO deputies and emergency personnel responded to CR 150W, south of CR 400N, on June 29 at approximately 5:30 p.m. to a reported motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles, the release states.
The Tahoe was operated by Joseph Criswell, 44, Milford. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
Daita,, who suffered serious injury in the collision, was driving the Tesla.
Evidence at the scene indicates the northbound Tesla traveled left of center, colliding with the southbound Tahoe, the release states.
Two juvenile passengers in the Tahoe were critically injured in the crash.
The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Lutheran EMS, North Webster EMS, Lutheran Air Ambulance, Leesburg Fire Department, Warsaw Police Department, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
