Warsaw Community Public Library’s StoryWalk project will be installed at one of the city’s parks in the fall.
During the WCPL Board of Trustees meeting Monday, Director Heather Barron said the library’s StoryWalk project will have a grand opening in late September or early October. The project is in collaboration with the Friends of the Library and the Warsaw Parks Department. Through the StoryWalk, children would be able to read a storybook in a park on 20 kiosk stands, with two pages per stand.
Kiwanis Club of Warsaw and the Warsaw Noon Optimists each donated $1,500 to the StoryWalk, with FOL contributing $3,000 to get the library to its $6,000 goal for the project.
Stands for the StoryWalk are ordered and will be delivered to the parks department.
In other business, the board established a three-person review committee.
Board President Chris Merrill said the committee will operate as a delegated group that can quickly address issues throughout the year, including complaints from the public.
Merrill said the committee’s creation is related to the library’s feasibility study, as WCPL staff will be seeking public comment on if the library should renovate its current building or relocate elsewhere. The committee would meet only as needed.
Board members Tim Keyes, Jenn Hicks and Ben Rice will serve on the committee for the remainder of 2024. Review committee members will be elected by the board on an annual basis.
WCPL’s Board of Trustees’ next meeting is at 4 p.m. Aug. 12.
