SIDNEY — The Sidney Town Council on Monday approved Sweetheimer Trash Removal's quote for a dumpster.
The dumpster will be used for trash pickup day on Oct. 12. This will be the fourth year working with Sweetheimer, who provided the lowest of three quotes.
The council also discussed Kosciusko Connect broadband internet, which is in the process of being installed in Sidney. The council voted to switch to the low-cost Kosciusko Connect internet plan once the internet service is available.
Fire Chief Kevin Wagoner reported the fire department received funding from K21 Health Foundation to get a ZOLL heart monitor for first responders. He stated the community would not be where it is if not for K21, and he is grateful.
In other business, the council:
• Approved the monthly financial reports.
• Signed a Community Crossing Matching Grant financial commitment letter.
• Discussed a request for a remodel at 106 E. Arthur St.
• Discussed requesting monthly reports regarding Pierceton police coverage.
Kosciusko Community Coordinator Amy Roe and Brenda Rigdon, representing the Hoosier Enduring Legacy Program, will attend the next council meeting to discuss strategic planning for economic growth in the community.
The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 12 in the Jackson Township Fire Station/Community Center.
