MENTONE – Jacksie J. Calvert Reiken, 91, of Mentone, passed at 1:14 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at her residence.
Jacksie was born on May 1, 1933, in Argos, to the late George G. and Hazel B. Garner Winterrowd. She was married Nov. 30, 1951, in Rochester, to Ralph L. Calvert, who preceded her in death on July 18, 1975. Jacksie worked for Zimmer Orthopedics for 21 years, where she met and married James E. Reiken on April 11, 1981. Jim also preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2024.
She was a member of the Warsaw New Harvest Church of the Nazarene for 44 years, where she taught the peacemaker class. Jacksie worked doing missions at the Navajo Indian Bible College of New Mexico for five years. When in New Mexico, she enjoyed watching hot air balloons. She also enjoyed camping, crocheting, watching sports, traveling and wintering in Florida. But most of all she loved talking about Jesus.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce and husband Richard Bose, of Mentone; and son, Ricky Calvert, of Warsaw; grandchildren, April and husband Rick Irons and Matthew and wife Chantelle Bose; great-grandchildren: Sarah, Joshua, Joseph, Hugh, Hazel and Erin; great-great-granddaughter, Vera; brother, Garry Winterrowd, of Florida; and sister-in-law, Susie and husband Walter Brown.
Jacksie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and brothers: Bob, Ronnie and Robin.
The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Ryan Howe officiating.
The interment will take place for both Jacksie and Jim in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery, Rochester. Graveside military rites will be performed by the Fulton County Honor Guard to honor Jim’s military service.
Visitation hours will be held from noon to the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made in her memory to the Warsaw New Harvest Church of the Nazarene 1654 Fisher Ave., Warsaw, IN 46580.
