Thank You For Your Service

As we celebrate Independence day this week, we need to remember that our “Freedom is not free.” Our Independence was paid for by those who gave their lives while serving their country, and ALL veterans who have served their country through the years in various capacities.
Always, if you see veterans who are wearing any item such a cap, that identifies them as a veteran, say these five words to them: “THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.”
My wife and I, both being veterans, feel humbled that we have been found worthy to serve this great country of ours, she in the Women’s Army Corps (WACS) as a records administrator from 1954-1956; I served in the Army as a medical corpsman in the Korean War. from 1952-1954.
Many times in restaurants in Warsaw and other places, where someone has observed my Korean cap I’m wearing, the waiters will come and say to us,”Your bill has been paid, with a thank you for your service.” Since most of the times we don’t know who has given this wonderful act of kindness to us, we want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
