ARPA Explanation

January 28, 2024 at 3:38 p.m.

Editor, Times-Union:
I am writing on behalf of the Kosciusko County ARPA Committee to clarify the confusion on the January 18th ARPA Committee reference The Beaman Home (Mary Ann’s Place) Grant.
The Times-Union article was written correctly and documented the meeting correctly. The information provided by The Beaman Home Executive Director Renea Salyer, on behalf of Mary Ann’s Place, was complete and accurate with full documentation of all expenditures already made from the grant as well as estimates supporting the requested change. The spreadsheet provided with Salyer’s information was correct. The comments made by committee members were correct based on the county data they were reviewing.
At the meeting, the ARPA Committee was presented the ARPA financial spreadsheet that was missing the last few lines due to “print area” being selected and set, that did not allow the entire document to print. The last few entries including the Mary Ann’s Place figures did not print. Anyone who has knowledge of Excel spreadsheets will understand that this could easily happen. I printed the correct information on my own computer at my home so what I had, matched what Salyer presented because of the format of the document received via email. I did not realize this was an issue until I got home and reviewed the meeting information.
I wanted to write this letter to clarify that Executive Director Renea Salyer had not cross-mingled grants which is rightfully what it looked like to the other committee members since Mary Ann’s Place was not listed on their spreadsheet. The county balances were in balance with what was presented by Salyer had the entire spreadsheet been printed.
This is an unfortunate event that the committee would not want to put David Slone, Renea Salyer, The Beaman Home or Mary Ann’s Place in a position that would lead the news reading public to believe there was an issue. I am writing to assure the news reading public that the information provided by David Slone was correct and that Salyer’s documentation for the Mary Ann’s ARPA Grant was accurate, and that the comments made by committee members were correct based on the date they were reviewing, and that the county data is correct as well.
Respectfully,
Sue Ann Mitchell, ARPA Committee Member
