Michael ‘Moose’ J. Samuels

Michael "Moose" J. Samuels, 67, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024.
Born on Feb. 23, 1956, in Plymouth, he was the son of Jerald and Patsy Kain Samuels. He attended Plymouth High School, graduating with the class of 1974. He also attended Ohio State University and Ivy Tech Community College and receiving his associate’s degree. Michael was a technical support supervisor in tool and die at General Motors and retired in 2019. Michael was an amazing father, grandfather, brother and friend who was known for his strong work ethic.
A gentleman that stood for what is right and would fight for the working man, Michael was proud of his children. He lived his life for his grandchildren, never missing a sporting event they were involved with. Michael was full of energy and never settled down and you would often find him fishing, hiking the Appalachian Mountains, bird watching at the Kankakee Valley and the Cherokee National Forest. He was a tremendous photographer of all the sights that he took in.
He is survived by his former wife, Charlotte Samuels; sons: James (Brooke) Samuels, of Troy, Ohio; Joshua (Alysha) Samuels, of Rochester; Johnathan (Shannon) Samuels, of Mentone; father, James Kruyer Sr., of Plymouth; sisters: Amme (Larry) Girten, of Plymouth; Julee Samuels-Alderfer, of Rochester; Lorre Samuels-Osborn; Emyle (Mike) Kruyer-Collins, of Plymouth; brother, Jim (Laura) Kruyer Jr., of Plymouth; grandchildren: Irie, Owen, Eden, Isla, Big Mike, Iron Will, Johnathan Jelly Fish, Dorth Vader, Adalynn, Chesney Samuels and Braden Coggins. Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center St., Plymouth. A memorial service will immediately follow with Pastor Charles Krieg officiating. Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
