Jack Birch Declares Candidacy For Kosciusko Circuit Court

On Friday, Jack C. Birch filed with the Indiana Secretary of State his declaration of candidacy for the Kosciusko Circuit Court.
Birch seeks election to the bench to replace Circuit Court Judge Michael W. Reed, who will retire at the end of his term in December, according to a news release from Birch.
Birch is an attorney with more than 30 years of experience practicing law in Kosciusko County. His clients include municipal and governmental entities, as well as business and individual clients. Birch represents clients in all types of transactions, real estate, civil litigation and criminal defense, the release states.
Birch is certified to defend all levels of criminal cases, except murder, under the Indiana Public Defender Guidelines. Birch serves as a public defender in all criminal courts in Kosciusko County.
Throughout his career, Birch has served as judge pro tempore in Kosciusko County Courts on many occasions. Birch is a registered mediator for both civil and family law.
He is a life-long resident of the area. He grew up in Ligonier. In 1988, he graduated from Indiana University at Bloomington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Birch earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University School of Law at Bloomington in 1991. He came back to Kosciusko County upon graduation from law school and admission to the bar in 1991.

Birch is the proud father of three adult children: Jackson, an Indiana University graduate and Syracuse resident; Madeline, a medical student at the IU Medical School Indianapolis; and Olivia, a May 2023 graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington.
Birch is a member and distinguished past president of Wawasee Kiwanis, past president of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce and past director of the Wawasee Youth Baseball League. He is a member of the Indiana State, Kosciusko County and Noble County Bar Associations. Birch served as one of two Kosciusko County Delegates to the Indiana State Bar Association. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce, as well as the boards of the Baker Youth Club, the Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Kosciusko Community Foundation and the Wawasee Building Trades.
