Boys Basketball
Goshen at Warsaw
Warsaw got back in the win column on Saturday, defeating Goshen 61-41 at the Tiger Den. The Tigers are now 9-3 this season, 2-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference.
Warsaw was led by another big night from Luke Bricker, as he led all scorers with 17 points. He also added five rebounds. Robbie Finlinson and Brandt Martin each added 10 points, with Martin leading the team with seven rebounds.
The Tigers have a big game against NLC leaders NorthWood on the road Friday night.
Anderson at Tippecanoe Valley
Tippecanoe Valley was unable to win both of its games over the weekend, falling 49-40 in the second game of a back-to-back to Anderson. The Vikings are now 9-6 on the year.
No stats were available for Valley. The Vikings earned a win in Friday night’s contest, defeating Elkhart 53-41.
Tippy Valley plays its next game Saturday at home against Jimtown.
Adams Central at Manchester
Manchester continued its torrid pace to start the season with a pair of wins over the weekend, the most recent being a 65-62 victory over Adams Central on Saturday. The Squires are now 13-2 this season.
Gavin Betten led the way with a massive double-double, finishing with 22 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Ethan Hendrix scored eleven points and added three steals while Gavin Martin finished the night with 10 points.
On Friday night, the Squires earned a huge 76-55 win over Rochester to improve to 5-0 in the Three Rivers Conference. Betten had 28 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks in that one. Martin had a season-high 16 points.
Manchester is on the road Tuesday for a game against Churubusco.
Prairie Heights at Whitko
Manchester wasn’t the only TRC team to pick up a pair of wins this weekend, as Whitko went 2-0, the most recent coming on Saturday, a 69-31 victory over Prairie Heights. The Wildcats are now 8-3 this winter.
Kyler Krull had a huge game, finishing with 27 points. Sam Essegian had 14 points while Easton Grable finished with 12.
On Friday night, Whitko improved to 2-2 in the TRC with a 66-33 win over Northfield. Essegian led the team with 17 points while Krull finished with 14. Grable rounded out the top three scorers with 13 points.
The Wildcats are on the road at Southwood on Wednesday.
Wawasee at Plymouth
Wawasee was unable to pick up a conference win on Friday night, falling 49-44 to Plymouth on the road. The Warriors are now 5-8 this season, 1-2 in the NLC.
Maddux Everingham led Wawasee in scoring with 19 points while also pulling down a team-high seven rebounds. Collin Ziebarth added 13 points while Myles Everingham scored five.
The Warriors are back in action Tuesday night at home against Bethany Christian.
Triton vs. John Glenn
Triton made it to the semifinal round of the Bi-County Tournament at LaVille High School Friday night, but were unable to go any further, falling 60-44 to eventual champions John Glenn. The Trojans are now 8-3 this season.
Jacob Pitney led the team with 16 points while Tanner Witt-Hoyo added 13. Julian Swanson scored eight points in the loss.
Triton returns home for a contest against Elkhart Christian on Thursday.
Girls Basketball
Concord at Warsaw
Warsaw’s incredible run in conference play continued on Saturday, as the Lady Tigers defeated Concord 61-26 at home to improve to 12-7, 6-0 in the NLC. The win clinched at least a share of a third straight conference title for Warsaw.
Joslyn Bricker scored 20 points to lead all scorers. Brooke Zartman was not far behind, finishing with 19 points and making five more three pointers. Zartman now has 69 three pointers on the year, breaking the school record she set as a freshman last season. Brooke Winchester barely missed out on a double-double, finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Lady Tigers will make up a postponed game against Goshen on the road Thursday.
Plymouth at Wawasee
Wawasee dropped its conference game to Plymouth on Saturday, falling 45-38 at home. The Lady Warriors are now 13-7 this winter, 4-3 in the NLC.
Olivia Horn and Kaydence Shepherd each had nine points in the loss. Wawasee has a road game on Tuesday against fellow area team Tippecanoe Valley.
Tippecanoe Valley at Kokomo
Tippecanoe Valley picked up a pair of wins over the weekend with Saturday’s victory being a 41-32 victory at Kokomo. The Lady Vikings are now 16-3 this season.
Ava Egolf led the team with 14 points, while Kelsey Cox added nine points and five rebounds. Ava Smith scored seven.
On Friday night, Valley defeated West Lafayette 32-30. Lucy Hayden scored a team-high nine points while Cox added seven.
Valley is at home on Tuesday for a contest against Wawasee.
Manchester at Rochester
Manchester continued its hot stretch of play with a 55-47 win against Rochester Saturday. The Lady Squires are now 14-6 this winter, 7-2 in the TRC.
Brookelynn Buzzard had a huge game, finishing with 23 points, five rebounds and six assists. Emma Walker had a double-double, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Kim Schroll and Molly Schannep each scored six.
Manchester will remain on the road for their next game, a Tuesday contest against Bluffton.
Northfield at Whitko
Whitko earned its eighth straight win on Saturday evening, defeating Northfield 47-45 at home. The Lady ‘Cats are now 16-3 this season, 8-1 in the TRC. Whitko will need Lewis Cass to drop its final conference game to Rochester to earn a share of the TRC title.
Kloe Kreig had 12 points while Reese Stonebreaker added eleven points. Braisha Harrison scored nine while Isabel Braconi contributed seven.
Whitko is at home on Tuesday against fellow area team Lakeland Christian.
