Sidney Still Working On Getting Police Help

SIDNEY — Sidney is continuing to work on getting part-time police help.
At its regular meeting on Thursday, the Sidney Town Council discussed reaching out to the town of Pierceton to see if Pierceton Police Department could supply an officer to patrol Sidney.
Leaders plan to attend the next Pierceton Town Council meeting on Feb. 12 to communicate about the topic. Due to that, the Sidney Council approved moving its next regular meeting to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15.
In other business, the council:
• Approved having Nick Jacobs serve as the town's attorney on retainer in place of Rick Helm, who has retired.
• Approved continuing discussion regarding Sidney joining the Kosciusko Area Plan Commission.
• Approved having Gavin Parrett serve as the council president.
• Approving paying Town Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Parrett $3,200 and town council members $1,600 for the year, the same amounts as last year.
