BOURBON – Sally K. Heisler, a beloved and devoted wife, mother, and cherished "Mimi," peacefully passed away in her home on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at the age of 75.
Born on Aug. 31, 1948, Sally was the youngest of four children to Max Keith "Joe" and Laura Bonita "Bonnie" Shaffer Pershing in Warsaw. She attended Bourbon High School, where she encountered the love of her life, Teddy Ray Heisler. Sally and Ted were united in marriage on Sept. 25, 1965, celebrating 55 years of wedded bliss until Ted's passing on April 7, 2021. A faithful member of Nappanee Missionary Church, Sally found fulfillment in her roles as a trust supervisor for Lake City Bank and as a medical transcriptionist. Despite her successful career, she believed her true calling in life was to be a dedicated wife and mother. Sally demonstrated her caring nature through various hobbies, including volunteering for CASA and Feed My Starving Children. Additionally, she showcased her talents as a seamstress, gardener and cook. Above all, her greatest joy stemmed from spending time with her adored grandchildren.
Sally is fondly remembered by her daughter, Tracy (Christopher) Slimak, of Warsaw; her son, Jeff (Kim) Heisler, of Wadena, Minn.; her sister, A. Virginia Lynch, of Bremen; her brother, Robert Pershing, of Bourbon; and her grandchildren: Clint (Britney) Heisler, Caleb Heisler, Kylee (Luke) Anspach, Jordan (Christina) Heisler, Josiah Heisler, Markail Heisler, Tyson (Linzie) Howard, Taelynne (Justin) Ousley, Zach Slimak; along with her great-grandchildren: Mila, Capri, Ophelia, Gideon and Sophy. Sally has now reunited with her parents; her husband, Ted Heisler; her son, Tod Heisler; her sister, D. Anne Pershing; and nieces and nephews: Bryan, Cristi and Ricky.
A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Bill Krogel. Burial will take place in Etna Green Cemetery, Etna Green.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to be made to Feed My Starving Children, 401 93rd Ave. NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433, a cause deeply meaningful to both Sally and Ted.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to friends and the community for their unwavering support during this challenging time. Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is honored to provide services in commemorating the life of Sally and extends our deepest condolences to the family.
