The Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees approved its slate of officers for 2024 during a meeting Monday.
Chris Merrill, Barbara Beck and Ben Rice will continue serving in their current positions as president, vice president and treasurer. Board Member Cathi Zdenek was elected as secretary.
Business Manager Renee Sweeny requested the board approve a resolution to encumber $42,603 from the library’s operations fund. The board approved the resolution.
WCPL Director Heather Barron told the board she and other regional library directors met with Sen. Sue Glick and Rep. Dave Abbott on Dec. 1 about what libraries are doing in their communities. Barron said the conversation was positive and receptive.
The Friends of the Library also recently held their Lights of Love Tree event. Library patrons had the opportunity to make a donation to the Friends by placing a card on a Christmas tree in honor or in memory of a loved one. Barron said the event was so successful the Friends are considering having two trees for the 2024 event.
Barron also said the library’s new facilities director, Jim Price, began working at WCPL on Jan. 2. The library’s former facilities director, Bruce Hively, retired.
Following its regular session, the board held its annual board of finance meeting. Merrill and Rice were re-elected to the financial board as president and secretary, respectively.
During the meeting, Sweeny delivered the 2023 investment report. WCPL’s investments policy, which had no changes, was reviewed.
WCPL’s Board of Trustees’ next meeting is at 4 p.m. Feb. 12.
