Boys Basketball
Warsaw at Harrison
Warsaw boys basketball earned yet another close victory on Saturday, ending 2023 with a 67-65 win over Harrison. The Tigers are now 6-2 this season.
Warsaw had four players finish in double figures scoring, led by 15 points from Brandt Martin. Luke Bricker added 14 points while Mydin Burgher poured in 12. Luke Yeager rounded out the top four with an eleven-point performance.
Warsaw is on the road Friday for a game against Northridge, its second Northern Lakes Conference game of the season.
Manchester vs. Wabash
Manchester was able to make it to the championship game of the County Tournament, but fell 50-40 to Wabash in the championship game on Saturday night. The Squires are now 8-2 this winter.
Gavin Martin scored 12 points to lead Manchester, while Gavin Betten added 10 to reach double figures. Wyatt Prater scored nine points while Tyler McLain added seven.
Manchester returns home for a Friday night contest against North Miami
Fort Wayne Wayne at Wawasee
Wawasee was unable to take home the trophy at its home holiday tournament on Friday night, falling 62-60 to Fort Wayne Wayne at the Hardwood Teepee. The Warriors are now 5-5 this season.
After a monster game in the early contest on Friday, Maddux Everingham kept it rolling with a 24-point night in the championship. Weston Hoffert got it going and poured in 17 points in this one. Myles Everingham added eleven points to round out the top three.
The Warriors will remain at home for their next game against NorthWood on Friday.
Girls Basketball
Warsaw at Center Grove Tournament
Warsaw girls basketball dropped a pair of games at the Center Grove Tournament on Friday, falling 61-59 to Brownsburg and 61-49 to Jeffersonville. The Lady Tigers are now 8-7 this winter.
Brooke Zartman and Joslyn Bricker each scored 16 points in the loss to Brownsberg, while Brooke Winchester added 15 and four rebounds. In the second game of the day, Bricker continued to have the hot hand with 13 points, while Winchester scored 12 and brought down seven boards.
The Lady Tigers resume conference play on Saturday when the team takes on Northridge at the Tiger Den.

The Manchester boys weren’t the only Squires to play for a championship over the weekend, as the Manchester girls team also made it to the final round of the County Tournament, falling 51-43 to Wabash in overtime. The Lady Squires are now 9-6 this season.
Brookelynn Buzzard led the team in scoring with 16 points as well as grabbing six rebounds. Emma Walker and Gracie Lauer both scored eight points, with Lauer also securing 12 boards.
Manchester is at home against Churubusco on Wednesday night.
Girls Wrestling
Warsaw at Mishawaka Regional
The Lady Tiger Wrestlers had an outstanding performance at the Mishawaka Regional on Saturday, finishing in second place overall.
The Tigers advanced all 6 of their wrestlers to next week's semi-state at Penn.
Champions for Warsaw were Kynna Yoder and Mariana Castro.
Yoder finished with three pins on her way to the championship in the 130 bracket.
Castro picked up two pins herself for the championship at 140.
Natalie Davis placed second for the Tigers at 140.
Third place finishers were Emma Dewald (125), Emily Dawson (145), and Kaiah Long (170).
