Michael ‘Mike’ Eugene Minnick Sr.

MILFORD – Michael “Mike” Eugene Minnick Sr., age 76, of Milford, passed away on Feb. 26, 2024, at home.
He was born on July 21, 1947, the son of Harry and Betty Paulus Minnick in Warsaw. On Sept. 2, 1984, he married Loretta “Lori” Chupp Ostendorf.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Lori Minnick, of Milford; five children: Craig (Stephanie) Ostendorf, of Florida; Staci Ostendorf, of Indianapolis; Traci (Shannon) Reed, of Indianapolis; Michael (Shaunna) Minnick Jr., of Huntington; and Neal Minnick, of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and siblings: Matt (Christie) Minnick, of Sarasota, Fla.; Marshall (Linda) Minnick, of Syracuse; and Sue Shock, of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mark Minnick.
Mike graduated from North Webster High School in 1965 and joined the Navy, serving from 1965-1969. He served two tours in Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient. Following his time in the Navy, he served 18 years in the Indiana Army National Guard. Mike was a hard worker and worked in manufacturing for many years, retiring as a purchasing manager at Dynamic Metals in Elkhart. He was a life member of the Milford American Legion and was a past Post Commander. Mike was also a member of Milford First Brethren Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golf, trips to Florida and going to classic car shows.
A funeral service will be held in Mike’s honor at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2 at Mishler Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 461 W. CR 900N, Milford. Pastor Lee Compson will officiate. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1 at the funeral home.
