Warsaw Community Schools announced Kaitlyn Murphy, art teacher at Harrison and Eisenhower elementary schools, has been awarded the Lilly Creativity Fellowship Grant.
This grant, part of the Lilly Endowment’s Teacher Creativity Fellowship Program, supports Indiana educators in pursuing personal renewal projects that stimulate their creativity, passion and effectiveness in the classroom, according to a news release from WCS.
The grant will fund Murphy’s "Imagination Inspired" project, an initiative to explore the environments that influenced two iconic artists: Norman Rockwell and Lucy Maud Montgomery.
The journey includes visiting Stockbridge, Mass., to dive into Rockwell's life and works, and traveling to Prince Edward Island, the backdrop for Montgomery's “Anne of Green Gables” series. By engaging directly with these sources of inspiration, Murphy hopes to rejuvenate her artistic vision and bring new insights and enthusiasm back to students.
