Man Suffers Multiple Wounds After Stabbing In Warsaw

One man was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital after allegedly being stabbed multiple times by another man in a Warsaw apartment building.
The suspect in the stabbing is Izak Vincent Eugene Newton, 28, of 214 Sophie Lane, Warsaw. The list of preliminary charges against him, according to his jail booking, include domestic battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery in the presence of a child less than 16, domestic battery with serious bodily injury, attempted murder, aggravated battery and invasion of privacy. His bond for the attempted murder preliminary charge was set at $50,250. Bonds for the other charges were not listed. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 11:12 a.m. Thursday.
At approximately 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, Warsaw Police Department patrol officers were called to 214 Sophie Lane in the Canterbury Apartments for a reported stabbing, according to a news release from WPD.
A man - identified as Newton - had fled the scene on foot and another man was on scene suffering from multiple stab wounds in multiple places on the body, the release states.
Officers began searching the area for Newton, who was found about 20 minutes later at the entrance of a nearby gravel pit. He was taken into custody without incident.
Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory and Lutheran EMS responded to treat the victim in this case. The victim was taken to Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital and, from there, Lutheran Air transported the victim to Lutheran in Fort Wayne. He had significant injuries, and his status was unknown at press time.
Warsaw detectives were called to the scene where a search warrant was requested and granted to be executed on the apartment where this incident originated. Eyewitnesses were also interviewed in this case. Newton is currently detained by law enforcement and there is no threat to the public.
No further information has been released at this time. The investigation is active and ongoing.
