Ryan Prince, a licensed professional surveyor with 10 years of experience working in Kosciusko County, has announced his candidacy for county surveyor in the 2024 Republican primary election on May 7.
Prince graduated from Delta High School in Delaware County in 2008, where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 27. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering and technology from Purdue University, according to a news release from Prince.
Since 2017, he has been living in Kosciusko County with his wife, Kim, and their two young children. He has been an active volunteer for KCV events, such as Fat and Skinny fest in May and Mark the Century tour course since 2021. Prince also received the volunteer of the year award in 2022 from KCV for his volunteer and organizational efforts.
As a professional surveyor at John Kimpel & Associates Land Surveying, Prince has worked on or supervised various projects in the county, such as boundary surveys, topographic surveys, subdivision plats, ALTA surveys and construction staking. He has also been involved in the restoration and perpetuation of section corners, which are the basis of all land surveys in Indiana.
Prince said he is passionate about the history and importance of section corners, both for private surveying work and for the benefit of the public. He said he wants to continue the legacy of professionalism and excellence that the current county surveyor, Mike Kissinger, has established.
Prince stated, “I am running for county surveyor because I care about the quality and accuracy of surveying services in Kosciusko County. I have the skills, experience, and vision to lead the county surveyor’s office and to serve the public with integrity and efficiency.”
Prince is the only state-licensed surveyor candidate for the county Kosciusko surveyor position, the release states.
