Syracuse Principal Moving To Tippecanoe Valley Position

SYRACUSE — Wawasee Community School Corporation announced Eric Speicher, Syracuse Elementary principal, will be transitioning to Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation as business manager.
Speicher has been principal for 11 years at Syracuse and was a fourth-grade teacher prior to his work in school administration. He is a graduate of Wawasee.
Over the past few years, Speicher has worked toward his interest in district leadership by earning his education specialist degree and starting his Indiana Association of School Board Officials (IASBO) chief business officer certification, according to a news release from Wawasee Schools.
Speicher’s last day will be March 1. Dr. Tom Edington, former superintendent of Wawasee Schools, will serve as interim principal until the end of this school year.
Wawasee will begin the search for a new principal immediately and intend to have a new principal named later this spring.
In a separate announcement, Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation said it was thrilled to announce the appointment of Speicher as its new business manager.
Speicher has a bachelor's degree from Ball State University, a master's degree from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne and an education specialist degree from Indiana State University.
A native of Milford, Speicher is married to Jessica, a reading interventionist at Lincoln Elementary. They have five children: Dorian, Isabel, Abby, Luke and Reid.
As the newly appointed business manager, Speicher will play a role in managing and directing the business office. His responsibilities will include preparing the school budget, writing and managing grants and overseeing the overall management of the business office. Speicher is eager to contribute his expertise to the Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. team and is excited about collaborating with the community to fulfill the district's mission of providing a quality education for all students, the news release states.
Speicher succeeds Jessica McFarland, who resigned to take a job with Wa-Nee Community Schools.
