GOSHEN – Phyllis Elaine Mahan Leininger, 80, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2024.
She was born Sept. 30, 1943, in Warren, Ohio, to Edward and Ida Mae Williams Mahan.
A 1961 graduate of Bristol High School, Ohio, she married Verne H. Leininger, June 22, 1963, in Bristolville, Ohio. He preceded her in death.
Phyllis earned her bachelor’s degree in 1965 from The Defiance College.
She was a dedicated spouse, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who demonstrated her love of God and others through her music, teaching, church, volunteering and work at Camp Mack.
Survivors include three children: Verne (Kathleen Martin) Leininger, Timberville, Va.; John (Alice Peters) Leininger, Beavercreek, Ohio; and Barbara (Robert) Leininger Dickason, Addison, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five siblings: Carol (Dennis) Shirey, Sharon Tolla, Fred (Nancy) Mahan, Karen (Joe) Beran and Betty (Jim) Koehler, all of Ohio.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 23 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. There will also be an hour of visitation prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday at Goshen City Church of the Brethren, beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor R. Kurt Borgmann will officiate. Burial will be in Poplar Ridge Cemetery, Defiance, Ohio, on Monday, Feb. 26.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Goshen City Church of the Brethren or Camp Mack.
