Joseph ‘Joe’ Hemphling

Joseph “Joe” Hemphling, 80, of Pierceton, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, peacefully at home.
Joseph was born on Aug. 24, 1943, in South Bend and was the son to Joseph and Emily Price Hemphling.
He served in the U.S. Navy, working in Washington, D.C., with security clearance until his honorable discharge. He then worked as a chauffeur for a limo service in San Diego, Calif.
Joseph loved traveling the world and loved the ocean and lakes. He was like a father to his nieces and nephews and loved them dearly. He enjoyed time spent with his sister Mary “Libby,” who lovingly took care of him until his passing.
Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Joanna Lehr, of Glendale, Ariz.; sisters, Mary “Libby” Anderson, of Pierceton; and Janet (John) Dawson, of Cincinnati, Ohio; nephews, Jerry (Amy) Smith and David (Stacy) Smith; a niece, Christy Smith (Angela Brent); and two grandchildren, of Glendale, Ariz. He was preceded in passing by his parents and a great-niece and great-nephew, Mia and Ty Smith.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22 at Sacred Heart, 135 N. Harrison St., Warsaw, with Father David Langford officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
