WEST LAFAYETTE - A man formerly of Warsaw was killed Thursday when his car collided with a school bus in West Lafayette.
According to information from a West Lafayette Police Department (WLPD) press release, Jose Fernando Amador, 20, of Warsaw, was involved in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Lindberg Road. His obituary lists him as of Lafayette and previously of Warsaw.
Amador was driving south on U.S. 231 when his vehicle hit a Tippecanoe School Corporation school bus attempting to clear the intersection and make a left turn onto Lindberg Road, according to the release. The bus did not have any children on it, according to a story on the Journal Courier website.
The West Lafayette Fire Department extricated Amador, who was unconscious at the time, from the vehicle and he was taken to the hospital with “serious injuries,” the release states.
The St. Vincent Trauma Intensive Care Unit in Indianapolis notified the Marion County Coroner’s Office of Amador’s death Friday morning, a news release from the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office states.
After the coroner’s office conducted an autopsy Monday morning, the preliminary cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force injuries. The manner of death was determined to be accidental.
