Silver Lake Approves Website, Trailer Addition
February 15, 2024 at 4:36 p.m.
SILVER LAKE – At Wednesday night's meeting, the Silver Lake Town Council approved a trailer addition, waiving the current ordinance, and a quote for an ADA-compliant website.
Council heard the trailer request from Janette and Keith Harris, who rebuilt a 1992 trailer and want to add it to their trailer park. The town's ordinance requires added trailers to be five years or newer, but the council agreed to waive the ordinance to allow the trailer.
Council approved the website quote from Warsaw Area Computer Doctor (WACD), who will build a site that is ADA compliant. The town is paying $4,750 for the website and $1,646.76 for the WACD three-year server protection plan.
Mitch Hansel, of USI Consultants, spoke to the council regarding the Community Crossings Matching Grant for road repairs. Phend and Brown won the last bid for asphalt work.
Council voted 2-1 on the pay rate for the part-time deputy marshal. Council members Jean Weller and Hugh Murfin voted to set the starting range at $16 to 18 per hour. Councilwoman Nichole Taylor voted no.
Taylor and Town Marshal Jason McGlennen expressed that $16 to 18 is too low.
In other business:
• Council renewed a MedStat occupation health agreement for town employees.
• The claims docket was $177,319.10.
• Fire Chief John Conley reported four runs last month, one alarm and three medical assists. Conley had no update on purchasing the new fire truck but should have an update in March.
Council will next meet at 7 p.m. March 13.
