February 5, 2024 at 6:51 p.m.

Terry Dean McKinney, 74, of South Bend, passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at his home.
Terry was born March 30, 1949, in Warsaw, the son of the late Norman and Helen Neer McKinney.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from 1969-1971, stationed in Korea. When returning to the area he found enjoyment in motorcycles, fishing, (coon) hunting and much more. He could be found on the porch with a cup of coffee, or on a stool at the American Legion where he was a longtime member. He was also involved in the United Kennel Club and American Kennel Club where he raised, trained and hunted with his dogs. Many of which were World Champions.
Terry was a longtime resident of Pierceton and the Barbee Lake area prior to moving to South Bend. He served the local area as a locksmith for many years, as well as a machinist at Biomet for 30-plus years until his retirement. He was known to treat everyone like a friend, and he never met a stranger. He loved to laugh, share stories and enjoy his life journey. Terry was a great man and will be missed by all.
Terry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sheila (Mooney) McKinney, of South Bend; brother Norm “Junior” (Mary) McKinney, of Warsaw; sons: Troy (Janice) Byrer, of Warsaw; Larry McKinney, of Atwood; Jason (Jennifer) McKinney, of Mentone; Timothy Lane, of Indianapolis; Justin (Nicole) Lane, of Chicago; and Daniel Lane, of South Bend. He is also survived by 17 grandkids and 15 great-grandkids. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Claude (Hank) McKinney.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services in celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. with a one-hour visitation prior in the funeral chapel. Pastor Al Ganser will be officiating the services. Military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Private burial at a later date.
The family kindly request the memorial donations to Robert L. Miller Sr. Veteran’s Center, 747 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601.
