A Warsaw man was arrested after allegedly trying to have sex with a minor under the age of 14.
Kmani Dashaun Wheeler, 19, of 1607 Maye St., Warsaw, is charged with child solicitation, a level 5 felony; and sexual battery, a level 6 felony.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:49 p.m. Wednesday on a $10,250 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 22 dispatch advised of a case where a minor was touched inappropriately on top of their clothing by Wheeler.
On June 27, the minor was interviewed at Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center. The minor said Wheeler touched them on Saturday two weeks prior at a residence. The minor told Wheeler how old they were the first night they met. On the day of the incident, the minor said they were hanging out at the residence in the living room with Wheeler and five others. They later went to the bedroom.
The minor said they were laying on their side watching TikTok on a bunk bed and Wheeler spooned them. Wheeler told the minor he wanted to have sex with them. Wheeler made sexual advances. The minor tried to reposition and Wheeler then kissed them, making the minor uncomfortable, according to court documents.
Wheeler told the minor they were going to have sex. At that point, the minor and one of the other minors she was with exited the bunk beds they were in and went to another residence.
On July 2, an officer talked with the second minor who said they and the first minor and Wheeler laid on the top bunk bed. Wheeler made sexual advances, according to court documents.
