Hook, Line And Sinker

Editor, Times-Union:
There are some fish, when caught, swallow the hook, and the fisherman hooking said fish, knowing they are more trouble than they are worth, usually cuts the line and throws them back.
So it is with the die-hard, bull-headed, sycophants of one big angler, Donald Trump. These hooked bullheads will swallow absolutely any bait this fisherman throws out in hopes he won’t “cut the line” and let them sink back into the misery from which they came. What they do not yet realize - and most likely never will until and unless Trump is re-elected — is that their fate, if caught and kept, is to be gutted, fileted, and devoured.
The “lines” the MAGAs have swallowed are glaringly false. They believe that Trump is a victim who is being hunted and persecuted by every prosecutor, every judge, every Democrat, every RINO (his term) and each and every person who disagrees with him or tries to hold him accountable for his lifetime of proven misdeeds. He has hooked them with many lines that, with only a bit of fact checking, can easily be proved false.
He claims he will “drill, drill, drill” for oil as soon as he takes office. He is not telling you that under Biden the U.S. is now producing more oil than any nation is or ever has produced.
He claims he made the largest tax cuts in history while in office. Not true. His cuts failed to make it into the top ten largest cuts. Furthermore, at the close of 2025, while the cuts to corporate profits will remain permanent, lower individual rates will expire.
He claims the immigration problems at the southern borders are the biggest threat to our country. However, when his party controlled the White House, the Senate, and the House, absolutely nothing was done to solve the problem. Currently the Senate has proposed a bipartisan bill to address the problem … agreed by both sides to be the best solution offered in decades, but Trump (not in any official capacity) instructed his bottom feeders in the House to kill the bill. He needs this problem to continue so he will have an issue to complain about in his campaign.
Trump often says, “I am very rich.” He claims to be worth billions. Why, then, did he spend $50 million of supporters’ donations on his legal bills? Why did he resort to selling bizarre “trading cards” and pieces of his clothing in order to raise money? Why did he beg for donations, trick donors into committing themselves to monthly contributions, get caught, and then be forced to reimburse that fraudulently gained money?
Trump claims he wants to make America better, but in his rallies he says he hopes for a terrorist attack and the economy to crash — anything to blame on Biden.
Trump has hooked his followers, reeled them in, and if given the chance, will certainly throw them all back, if not devour them, if given the chance.
