Mary Lou Laurino, from Warsaw, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024.
Mary Lou was born Mary Marie Harbert on Dec. 12, 1924, in Logansport, to Arthur LeRoy and Florence Harbert. She had one brother, William Charles Harbert. Mary Lou was adopted by William and Gladys Fisher when she was 2 years old and her brother William was adopted by the Paul family.
Mary Lou graduated from Akron High School, Akron, in 1942. She married Robert Wilbur Lackey, and they had three children: Monty Jean Lackey, Charlene Kaye Lackey and Michael Robert Lackey. After their divorce, she moved to Chicago and married Anthony John Laurino, in 1954. They had three children: Nicholas Anthony Laurino, Lucille Renee Laurino and Toni Camille Laurino. She met her life partner Sam Vickers in 1977. They were together until he passed in 2017.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Fisher; her brother, William Charles Harbert; son, Monty Jean Lackey; and life partner, Sam Vickers. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Lynn) Lackey, Warsaw; and Nicholas (Nancy) Laurino, Indianapolis; and daughters, Charlene Lackey, Mentone; Lucille Renee Gibson, Warsaw; Toni Camille (Kevin) Wilson, Warsaw; and 23 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be on Saturday, Jan. 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. with a service to follow at 3 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, IN 46580.
Private burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to Kosciusko County Cancer Fund C/O K-21 Health Foundation, 1101 Park Ave., Winona Lake, IN 46590.
