James L. Weirick, 87, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, at Parkview Regional in Fort Wayne.
Jim was born on Jan. 28, 1937, in Warsaw, to Charles and Latha Mason Weirick.
He served in the U.S Army Reserves from 1956-1964 as a gunman for the Battery A 393 Field Artillery Battalion. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant.
On May 13, 1962, in Warsaw, Jim married Patsy Freeman and they would welcome their daughter, Jodi.
He worked as a buyer for Thornburg Drug Store for 26 years until his retirement in 1990. Jim would also work in maintenance for Explorer Van for 14 years until officially retiring in 2005.
He was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Warsaw and a member of the Warsaw American Legion Post #49.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Jodi (Thad) Thompson, of Noblesville; granddaughters, Channing and Lachlyn Thompson; sisters, Carolyn Blake and Sandra (Rich) Hollingsworth; many beloved nieces and nephews; and special friends: Mark (Kelly) Harkins and Tommy (Elaine) Long.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters, a brother, and his companion, Carol Schrader.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Friday, Jan. 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
Private family burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors.
