Ellen ‘Ellie’ R. Elliott

BOURBON – Ellen “Ellie” R. Elliott, 76, of Bourbon, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024, in Ernestine M. Raclin House of Mishawaka.
Ellen was born to Glenn and Alice Ellsworth Secrist on Oct. 7, 1948, in Warsaw. She graduated from Mentone High School in 1967. She married Mark “Ed” Elliott, Jr. on May 26, 1978, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1998. She owned Elliott’s Coffee Shop, she worked for the Town of Bourbon, was an EMS driver, worked at Harmony Press and for Tic Tock Trophy Shop in Akron. She was a 50-year member of the American Legion #424 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as president and treasurer for 25 years. She enjoyed watching sports, especially football and basketball, watching Triton sports and her nephews and nieces sporting events. She liked to sit at the Bourbon Bank with poppies for Veterans on Poppy Day. She will be missed by many.
Ellen is survived by her brothers, Larry (Jeanie) Secrist, of Cedar Lake; Steven (Mary Pat) Secrist, of Warsaw; her sister, Serita (Bill) King, of Bourbon; along with many nephews and nieces.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Alice Secrist; her stepfathers, Bill Scott and Glenn Danner; her husband, Mark “Ed” Elliott Jr.; her in-laws, Mark and Marcia Elliott; her brothers, Jerry Secrist, Ron Secrist; her sisters-in-law, Dixie Secrist and Donita Secrist; and her sister, Glenda McFarland.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Larry Shutske officiating. The family requests that everyone wear blue to the funeral.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion #424 Ladies Auxiliary, 202 S. Main St., Bourbon, IN 46504, in Ellen’s name.
