7:09 p.m. Monday - Trey Allen Rhodes, 28, Avilla, arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a controlled substance in the body - first offense. Bond: $700.

• 2:45 p.m. Friday - 4407 W. Crystal Lake Road, Warsaw. Semi-truck hit pedestrian. Driver: Christopher C. Sotel Morales, 43, Saint Marys, Ohio. Injury: Pedestrian Jose Guadalupe Aguilar Vargas, 46, Fort Dodge, Iowa, died from his injuries. Damage: Under $1,000. KCSO.

Big Second Quarter Puts Warsaw Over Columbia City
The Warsaw girls basketball team hit the road to take on rival Columbia City in a contest featuring two top 20 teams looking to keep one streak alive, the undefeated start to the season, while also breaking another. The Lady Eagles had won the last three matchups in the longstanding rivalry, but the most recent matchup belonged to the Lady Tigers. Using some suffocating defense and another efficient night scoring the basketball, Warsaw was able to come away with yet another victory, 65-50, to start the season 12-0.

Winona Lake Council Approves Additional Appropriations
WINONA LAKE – Winona Lake Town Council approved five additional appropriations Tuesday.

Korus Hired As Whitko Superintendent
LARWILL – Dr. Amy Korus was hired as Whitko’s superintendent of schools during the school board’s Monday regular meeting.

Leamon Named County Veteran Of The Month
A Shriner four-time “Clown of the Year” who served his country in the Army during Vietnam is the Kosciusko County Veteran of the Month for December.
