WINONA LAKE – KringleFest combined with K21 Health Foundation’s free skate day Saturday at the Miller Sunset Pavilion to bring the community together
Park Department Director Holly Hummitch said KringleFest started around 2009.
The K21 Health Foundation also sponsored free skating from noon to 9 p.m.
The KringleFest portion of Saturday’s event went from 1 to 3 p.m., which including having reindeer, photos with Santa, face painting and train rides.
KringleFest is just a community holiday event.
“We started KringleFest back in ‘09 because there wasn’t something around the holidays and we wanted to have another community event that we could bring people in for this time of year,” Hummitch said.
This is the first year KringleFest was held at the Miller Sunset Pavilion. Last year, the event took place at the Rodeheaver Auditorium, which was where the event started.
“But when we learned this was going to be the free skate day, it was just a great opportunity to partner with K21 and the pavilion for the same event,” she said, noting she wanted to thank K21 for the free skate day.
Hummitch said she has seen the event grow over the years as it’s another opportunity to get out into the community and enjoy each other.
