James Edward Hall, of Warsaw,  passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at the age of 98. His family extends their heartfelt thanks and were very grateful to Elara Caring and Hospice for the excellent care provided to their father.
He was born on Jan. 18, 1926, in Van Lear, Ky., to Annie Phelps Hall and James Howard Hall. Growing up he excelled at sports and was the captain of his high school basketball team. After graduation, James’ sense of duty to his country compelled him to enlist in the military during World War II. Unfortunately, he was denied entry due to being diagnosed with pleurisy.
On Sept. 28, 1945, he married Ruth Dixon and they shared 63 years of marriage together before she passed away on June 20, 2009. He was devoted to his wife and loved her dearly. They raised three children, and later enjoyed their roles as grandparents.
James was a reliable hard-working man all of his life. He worked for Kimble Glass in Warsaw and retired after 25 years of service. He enjoyed the simple things in life ... loving on and spending time with his family. James loved children, especially his many grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing and was known for his good sense of humor, kind nature and was an honorable man who never said a cuss word in his 98 years on this Earth. James was a great carpenter and built his own house on Sycamore Drive in Warsaw. He loved his Lord, and worshipping alongside his church family at First Baptist Church of Warsaw where he was a longtime member.
He will lovingly be remembered by his son, J. Mark (Angel) Hall, Carmel; two daughters, Jane (David) Kneller, Silver Lake; Lesa Hatfield, Warsaw; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four sisters and one brother.
James’ life will be celebrated with a private family service that will be officiated by Rev. Steve Rahn. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Ruth at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
Memorial donations may be directed to Elara Caring, 7030 Pointe Inverness Way #230, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.
Online condolences may be sent through the funeral home’s website at www.redpathfruthfuneralhome.com.
