FORT WAYNE – Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne and Warsaw has received $16,821 to support students and programs from Circle of Ivy, the Ivy Tech Foundation’s women’s philanthropy group.
The funds were distributed to support $6,500 in requested projects, according to a news release from Ivy Tech.
“Our students continue to receive significant benefits thanks to the support of Circle of Ivy,” said Dr. Kim Barnett-Johnson, chancellor of Ivy Tech Fort Wayne/Warsaw. “Because of the group’s generosity, we’re able to offer study abroad opportunities, access to emergency aid, and free holiday meals. Resources like these give our students experiences and aid that they may not have gotten otherwise.”
This year, Ivy Tech Fort Wayne is funding four projects: Transportation Resources (Bus Passes), $1,000; Dominican Republic Service Project, $1,000; EMT and Paramedic Fees, $1,000; and Aspiring Educators Club Support, $800.
Ivy Tech Warsaw is supporting two projects: Mental Health and Wellness, $2,000; and Thanksgiving Dinner in a Box, $1,000.
Founded in 2015, Circle of Ivy focuses on the needs of students attending Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana’s largest postsecondary institution and workforce engine. Circle of Ivy builds opportunities and diminishes barriers to higher education by raising funds to help with emergency needs as well as sending students abroad for educational opportunities, providing instructional support with classroom technology, textbooks and other critical programs.
Each campus voted on submitted proposals. To find a list of the projects being funded, visit the Circle of Ivy web page.
