Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) invites every community member to be part of that story through "Together We Feed Them All," a districtwide initiative to fill more than 350 family boxes with food and hope.
From Dec. 2 to 12, WCS will join together to ensure no child misses a meal during the extended school break, according to a news release from WCS.
"These boxes represent the heart of Warsaw," said Dr. David Hoffert, WCS superintendent. "When we say 'Together We Feed Them All,' we're writing a story of a community that refuses to let any child go hungry. Every donation, every packed box, every act of kindness adds another line to this powerful narrative of hope."
The districtwide initiative aims to provide 350 families with essential food items to bridge the gap during winter break.
"This isn't just about filling boxes with food," said JoElla Hauselman, principal of Edgewood Middle School. "It's about filling our community with hope. When families receive these boxes, they're receiving a message that says, 'Your community cares, your children matter, and you're not alone this winter break.'"
People can donate food items at Edgewood Middle School (or any WCS building) through Dec. 12, organize a collection drive in your neighborhood and contribute funds to help purchase additional needed items.
The online link for donations is located on the WCS website. Checks can be made out to Edgewood Middle School (food drive on memo line).
The distribution to families will be Dec. 16 - 20.
"Every year, this community amazes me with its generosity," Hoffert said. "Together, we don't just feed bodies – we nourish souls. We show our children that in Warsaw, no one faces winter break wondering where their next meal will come from."
Drop-off locations are Edgewood Middle School or any school in WCS.
