With only one way in and one way out of Forest Park Manufactured Home Community, residents of the mobile home park were lined up for about two hours Monday night to get in or out while firefighters battled a trailer fire.
Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory Fire Marshal Jeremy Williams said some of the residents were not happy with the road being blocked.
The fire department received the initial call at 9:03 p.m. Monday of the trailer fire at 3100 Old Colony Road. A resident called the fire in.
Williams said there were two adults and two children at the home at the time of the fire, but everyone was able to escape and there were no injuries. A dog also got out, but a pet snake and a cat did not. He did not have a name for the property owner, and none was listed on the county’s website.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it began in a back bedroom.
Williams estimated the trailer is a total loss.
Firefighters were on hand until 11:30 p.m.
Winona Lake Fire Department provided a full assist to the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory. Warsaw Police Department and NIPSCO also were on hand.
