LARWILL – The Whitko FFA chapter thanks business sponsors and the community for making their annual Winter Wonderland Christmas Auction a successful event, according to a provided news release.
The Ag Barn, located on the Whitko Career Academy campus, was transformed into a winter wonderland with luminarias, poinsettias and a walkway of beautifully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and holiday decor. Guests were able to preview the auction items while enjoying hot cocoa, coffee and an extensive dessert bar.
After a welcome by Hannah Thomas, Whitko FFA chapter president, FFA members lined up to showcase the items for auction. Many uniquely themed Christmas decor items were available on which to bid, with the “Holstein”-themed Christmas tree sponsored by the Whitko Animal Food Science class being chosen for the People’s Choice Award.
Prior to the sale of the Livestock Judging Team’s tree, Kohen Schipper, Livestock Judging Team member, thanked those in attendance for their support sharing that the team recently placed second in the nation for Livestock Evaluation. The Livestock Judging Team has been invited to represent the United States in June at the Royal Highland Show in Scotland.
The auction concluded by accepting bids on the poinsettia centerpieces displayed throughout the room. Amy Brown, FFA chapter vice president, closed the evening by thanking those in attendance, the Whitko FFA Alumni for helping to organize the event, and Metzger Auction for providing auctioneer services. Proceeds from the auction will help support FFA members as they make plans to participate in upcoming contests.
Future fundraisers for the Livestock Judging Team are currently being planned.
