ELKHART - The community is invited to gather for the first Speak Our Truth Project: Child Safety & Human Rights Rally on Sept. 21 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Elkhart Civic Plaza, 350 S. Main St., Elkhart.
Join Rio’s Rainbow, Parent Coalition for Child Safety & Wellness, Cosecha and Nonviolent Medicaid Army (Put People 1st Indiana) for a collective platform of truth-telling and solidarity, featuring a lineup of speakers and arts and culture performers from across Indiana, according to a provided news release.
"Children's safety and mental well-being should not only be a top priority for our local schools, but also for our entire state. Our children are dying by something that is very preventable if we all collectively focus our time and attention to it, above all other agendas!" said Aaron Ball, co-founder of Rio’s Rainbow.
These grassroots organizations recognize that social problems require united collective action and are actively calling on local communities to join their efforts of child safety and human rights across Indiana.
“Human rights are for everyone. It does not matter your skin color, nationality or if you are documented. We are the same and should have the same rights,” said Eva Palapa, Cosecha.
This family friendly gathering will offer a Speak Your Truth Booth for individuals called to share their own stories, free Family Fun Basket raffle giveaways, music by DJ Certified Grind, dancing, community provider resources, food vendors and free face painting. Spanish translation will also be provided.
