MILFORD - Milford Council met in special session Monday night where Council President Doug Ruch announced he received a letter of resignation from Wastewater Superintendent Mark Brubaker, effective Sept. 2.
According to Clerk-Treasurer Tricia Gall, Brubaker was not present at the meeting, but Ruch thanked him for his work for the town and accepted the resignation. Gall said Brubaker worked for the town consecutively for the last 11 years.
Instead of hiring someone to replace Brubaker, current water, street and park Superintendent Steven Marquart will take over that responsibility and the board approved a new job description for the utility, streets and park superintendent. They also approved new job descriptions for general laborers for those departments at the current salaries, but all will be cross trained for all departments.
Gall said, “We planned to make that change anyway at the beginning of the year as far as cross-training, so we just fast forwarded it as we weren’t expecting this.”
The board also authorized Gall to advertise for an additional general laborer position for the utilities, streets and park department.
In a related matter, the board approved an amendment to the salary ordinance that named Marquart as the utilities superintendent with a 10% wage increase and listed how his salary would be distributed. It also listed all the general laborers at the current salary but shows which funds the salaries will be pulled from.
In other business, the council approved:
• An amendment to the agreement with Commonwealth regarding water meter replacements. There was no change to the amount of the agreement in dollars or number of meters, the changes were only in language required by Office of Community & Rural Affairs (OCRA).
• And signed an agreement with Astbury Water Tech Inc. to pickup and draw labs on wastewater samples two times a week for five different tests, ranging in price from $18-$35 plus environmental fees.
• Paying liability insurance in the annual amount of $50,954 with W.R. Hall, which is a 12.8% increase over last year.
