SIDNEY — The Sidney Town Council discussed the 2025 budget at a special meeting on Thursday.
The purpose of this meeting was to review the financials and costs for the upcoming year. Nothing was voted on or implemented at this meeting.
Council discussed that costs are set to increase for certain bills and services, including phone, internet and insurance. They discussed wanting to increase public safety funds and mosquito spraying coverage.
Based on the expenditures from this year, the council considered decreasing the funds allotted to office costs and attorney fees.
Council discussed keeping the budgets the same for the following items: council wages, postage, mileage, advertising and rent.
The council has yet to receive a budget increase allotment from Indiana’s Department of Local Government and Finance. This amount will determine possible budget increases.
The next Sidney Town Council meeting will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 9, at the Jackson Township Fire Station.
