Billie “Bill” Wayne McBroom, of Warsaw, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at his residence at the age of 83.
He was born on June 7, 1941, in Catron, Mo., to Elcie Joiner and Luthern P. McBroom. Bill graduated from Parma High School in Parma, Mo., and attended the College of Ozarks. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1960, proudly serving for four years as an aircraft machinist on the USS Ticonderoga until his honorable discharge.
In June of 1967, Bill married the first love of his life, Mary Tripplet. Sadly, she passed away in 1988. He was blessed to meet someone new to share his life with, Joyce Eilene VanCuren, who, too, had lost her husband. On Aug. 26, 1988, Joyce and Bill married and they shared almost 36 years together before he passed away.
Bill was a hard-working and reliable man his entire life and worked as a tool and die maker in R & D for Zimmer in Warsaw. He retired in 2001 after 32 years with Zimmer.
Bill was never one to settle down, and always kept busy in retirement and assisted building the family center of the Nazarene Church. He loved to serve his Lord and enjoyed worshipping with his church family at Pathway Church in Warsaw.
As a hobby he had a wood working shop, building wooden rocking horses for his family and close friends. Billie was great with his hands and detail work and also made many cedar chests and small sofa end tables.
He dearly loved his family and enjoyed traveling the U.S. with his wife Joyce on bus tours for 10 years. He lived a full life and witnessed many blessings over the years. He watched his children grow up and become parents themselves, and Bill loved his new role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He will forever be loved and remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
He leaves behind his wife, Joyce E. McBroom, Warsaw; son, Marcus (Kim) McBroom, Warsaw; and daughter, Pamela Endicott, Warsaw. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Justin (Kara) McBroom, Warsaw; Ashley McBroom, Indianapolis; Jordan Aleman, Warsaw; Hannah (Steven) Jamison, Warsaw; Brittney (Sam) Weaver, Leesburg; and eight great-grandchildren: Brooke, Jordance, Daniel, Ellie, Kinley, Rowen, Benjamin and Chloe. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary McBroom, in 1988; two brothers and one sister.
Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Bill’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service following visitation at 1 p.m. and officiated by Pastor Jarod Osborne. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw with military rites conducted by members of the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw and active-duty members of the Navy Honor Guard.
Memorial donations may be directed to Pathway Church, 2402 W. Old Road 30, Warsaw, IN 46580; or to the Indiana Parkinson Foundation, 14350 Mundy Drive #800, Noblesville, IN 46060.
