Silver Lake Approves Trunk Or Treat Idea
August 15, 2024 at 6:27 p.m.
SILVER LAKE – At Wednesday night's meeting, the Silver Lake Town Council approved a proposal for a trunk-or-treat event this October from town resident Randy Hartman.
Hartman suggested a trunk-or-treat event in town for children who live in the country. Clerk-Treasurer Tonya Conley said he would need a permit to close any streets downtown because they run along a state highway but suggested the old school lot for a location.
Hartman will put a proposal in writing and send it for the council to review ahead of the September meeting.
In new business, the council allowed Keith and Janet Harris to bring in new mobile homes at the park on High Street with a condition that the Harrises' current renovation must be finished, and the old, unusable trailer be removed, by spring 2025.
Council also approved a $1,900 quote from D&D Electric of Etna Green for an electrical conduit and meter base replacement.
In other business:
• Fire Chief John Conley reported eight runs last month: six medical assists, one accident and one fire. Conley drove the new fire truck to the meeting and offered a tour to anyone present who might want to see the truck.
• There was a town docket of $157,923.37.
Council will next meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 11.
