Several people were injured with two taken to the hospital after a six-vehicle collision on Ind. 15S Tuesday.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies and emergency personnel responded at 1:58 p.m. Tuesday to a multi-vehicle accident on Ind. 15, south of Southwood Drive, according to a news release from KCSO.
Preliminary investigation determined that a 2012 Lincoln MKZ, driven by Larry L. Scripter, 28, Warsaw, was southbound on Ind. 15 and crossed the center line, colliding with a 2002 Nissan Frontier, driven by Lilia Martinez, 44, Claypool, and a 2008 Ford F150, driven by Adrian L. Bueno Caeballos, 46, Silver Lake.
A 2003 Peterbilt Semi, driven by Tyce L. Rooney, 23, Columbia City, attempted to avoid the collision but collided with Caeballos’ vehicle. Rooney’s semi overturned and then hit a 2015 Chevy Traverse, driven by Austin A. Bryant, 29, Silver Lake.
Carol S. Burnsworth, 60, Silver Lake, driving a 2017 Ford Escape, saw the collision and began to brake to avoid hitting Caeballos’s vehicle but was hit by Bryant’s vehicle after Bryant’s vehicle was hit by Rooney’s semi. Bryant’s vehicle was hit by Rooney’s semi and the impact pushed Bryant’s vehicle into Burnsworth’s vehicle.
Scripter suffered internal injuries and was flown to Fort Wayne by Lutheran Air.
Martinez suffered internal injuries and was ground transported to Lutheran Fort Wayne.
Rooney complained of head pain, and Caeballos complained of chest pain.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Warsaw Police Department, Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, Lutheran Air, Kosciusko County Emergency Management, Reichert & Knepp Wrecker Service and Crouse Wrecker Service.
The crash remains under investigation by the KCSO FACT.
