Regina Marie Bennett Lackey, of Warsaw, passed away surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at the age of 61.
She was born on June 24, 1963, in South Bend, to Rosemary Esther Wruble and Ernest Willard Bennett. Regina graduated from Penn High School in Mishawaka. For a number of years she worked in her parents’ grocery store in Mishawaka, later working for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier until 1998.
She met a very nice man, Bruce A. Lackey, who had two sons. On April 6, 1992, they married and Regina had an instant family with her new sons, David and Matthew Lackey. Together, Bruce and Regina expanded their family with two daughters, Alaina and Shanai. Raising their children kept her busy. Being a homemaker was a full-time job on top of her full-time job with the post office and she always made time for her family.
She had been a resident of Warsaw for the past 32 years. One of her favorite things she enjoyed was going to all of the various activities for her grandchildren. Regina attended Rochester Church of God in Rochester for the past 10 years where she enjoyed worshiping alongside her church family. She will forever be loved and remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She leaves behind her husband of 32 years, Bruce Allan Lackey, Warsaw; two daughters, Alaina (Cody) McDonald, Akron; Shanai (Cody) Utter, Athens, Ind.; stepson, Matt Lackey, Merriam; and 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosemary and Ernest Bennett; brother, Edward Bennett; stepson, David Lackey; and her granddaughter, Kaitlyn Lackey.
Regina’s life will be celebrated privately by her family with a graveside service at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw officiated by Pastor Larry Pyeatt. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
Memorial donations in Regina’s memory may be directed to the Church of God, 3048 Southway 31, Rochester, IN 46975.
Online condolences may be sent through the funeral home’s website at www.redpathfruthfuneralhome.com.
