Nappanee Bicyclist Killed In Crash

A Nappanee man was killed when the bicycle he was riding was hit by an SUV Thursday night.
According to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash occurred in the 11000 block of North Ind. 19 in Jefferson Township, in the northwest section of Kosciusko County.
At 7:54 p.m. Thursday, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies and emergency personnel responded to a car-versus-bicycle accident on Ind. 19. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and located a 2004 Chevy Blazer, driven by Jonathan W. Davis, 25, Warsaw, and a bicyclist, Aaron E. Miller, 52, Nappanee, involved in the crash.
The preliminary crash investigation determined that both Miller and Davis were traveling northbound on Ind. 19 when Davis’s vehicle hit the rear of the bicycle, the release states.
Davis was not injured in the crash.
Miller was pronounced dead at the scene by Kosciusko County Coroner Tyler Huffer from injuries suffered in the crash.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Nappanee Fire and EMS, Reichert & Knepp Wrecker Service and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the KCSO FACT.
