August 9, 2024 at 4:51 p.m.

Cathy Lynn Luther, of South Whitley, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, Aug. 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home at the age of 54. She spent her time on this earth living her life to the fullest and loving people in a great way. They have comfort in knowing her pain has come to an end and is now whole again in Heaven!
She was born on July 14, 1970, in Warsaw, to Mary Bell Manns and James Edward Overbey. She attended Tippecanoe Valley High School and earned her high school diploma from Ames. Later she attended Ivy Tech for two years. On June 16, 1993, Cathy married the love of her life, Richard “Rick” Bennett Luther. They shared everything on their journey together through sickness and health, from birthdays, holidays and family get-togethers. They were blessed to share 30 years together before Rick passed away on Sept. 11, 2023.
Cathy worked as a machinist for Biomet in Warsaw where over the years she had made many friends. She enjoyed attending Akron Church of God as a young woman. She loved the outdoors, flowers and she especially loved her cats, Hooper and Sparky.
She enjoyed being married to Rick and all of the wonderful times they spent together and missed him dearly after he passed. More than anything, she loved being around her family, enjoyed the company of her friends and neighbors and she was always available to lend a helping hand when she was able to. Cathy will forever be remembered as a wonderful and loving daughter, sister and friend to many who will be dearly missed.
She leaves behind her mother, Mary Bell Overbey, Claypool; brother, Jamie (Stephanie) Overbey, Silver Lake; sister, Patty (John) Lyons, Bourbon; mother-in-law, Peggy J. Hartman, Peru, Ind.; sister-in-law, Arlene Luther (David) Miller, Edwardsville, Ill.; sister-in-law, Amanda Luther Holmer, Indianapolis; brother-in-law, Arlie Hartman, Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rick Luther, on Sept. 11, 2023, and her father, James Overbey, on Aug. 3, 2023.
Cathy’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13 and officiated by Pastor Luther Bailey at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. at South Whitley Cemetery in South Whitley.
Memorial donations in Cathy’s memory may be directed to Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, 1048 S. 325 W., Pierceton, IN 46562 and designated to the Cat House.
